Paula Richardson has worked in the school system for 26 years and has experience working with individuals with various mental health diagnoses and developmental disabilities. She has been married to her husband, Kris Richardson, for 24 years. They have three children that they love spending time with and supporting their activities. They enjoy being active in their community and are a fan of local sports. They also enjoy landscaping, taking day trips, and traveling.

She resides with her husband who will serve as a back-up worker. Two of their three children reside in the home, a 7-year-old girl and almost 17-year-old boy. Their third child is away at college. They also share their home with two very friendly dogs. Paula shares she comes from a very loving family and was raised by parents that were wonderful role models. Paula noted as her children get older, she desires to help others by offering a loving home and family, thus wants to open her home as a sponsored residential provider to an individual.

The Richardson’s home is a one level brick home with a full walk-out basement. There are three bedrooms and two full bathrooms on the main level. The dining room, kitchen and living room is an open concept. The basement has a large recreation room with a pool table and ping pong table, a media area, and a third bathroom. They have a large back deck that looks out to a fire pit and seating area. There is a gas fireplace in the living room and a wood stove used as back up heat in the basement. The home has an electric heat pump and central air conditioning. They are located 11 miles from Hillsville, and approximately 30 minutes to both Galax and Mount Airy NC.
