Daynesha Wilson and her mother, Karen, live in Stephen’s City, Virginia. Daynesha has owned the home since June 2022. Daynesha grew up with a sibling with autism and has been his Consumer Directed provider for over three years. She has volunteered with the Special Olympics program assisting as a chaperone with the volleyball, basketball, and roller-skating teams. Daynesha has worked for FEMA since July 2021. Karen Wilson has over a decade of experience in the field, including relative experience working in England and Jamaica. She brings great knowledge regarding the societal difference in how the needs of individuals with disabilities is addressed. Karen has worked as a CNA with ResCare, DSP Heart Haven and Grafton. She is currently working at Grafton in Winchester.

Daynesha and Karen are a fun-loving, compassionate, and social mother-daughter duo that complement each other’s likes and dislikes. Karen is the adventurer and Daynesha is the observer. Karen enjoys going hiking and being outdoors, where Daynesha would rather read a good book about someone’s adventures on their hiking trip. Collectively they enjoy spending time with their family, engaging in activities such as family game night, movie night, attending local events, volunteering with the special Olympics, traveling, and attending church. Daynesha and Karen are the only ones residing in the home. Living the life of a sibling of someone with a disability and the parent of a child with a disability, Daynesha and Karen know firsthand the trials and tribulations families face and want to bring hope and help another individual and family in need.
