Each provider works with one or multiple backup workers to help provide care when you and your household cannot. This allows you to maintain parts of your lifestyle that may not be accessible for the individual in your care. You even get to personally select the backup workers who come to your home.

In addition to support staff, you’ll have access to Wall Residences behavioral, nursing, and other services.

How do I apply to be a provider?

How long will the hiring process take to become a provider?

Your process will start with part-time training. During this period, many people continue working their current jobs. New providers are typically licensed and ready to accept referrals within four to six weeks.

As adults with disabilities apply for Wall Residences services, our organization works to pair them with residential providers that can meet their needs. The timeframe for this match is unpredictable. Our team does not have control over how long it’ll be before an individual needs your home and is well suited to your skills, but we work hard to market your vacancies to our referral sources to fill them as quickly as we can.

Wall Residences aims to make matches that last for many years. This is done to provide more stability for you and the person living in your home. Once someone is eligible for your home, you’ll receive a notification and information about that individual with placement occurring typically within a few short weeks.

What skills are needed to work as a provider?

Previous work with individuals with disabilities in a regulated environment (at least six months)
Ability to complete documentation (training is provided)
Ability to use a computer
Understanding of “person-centered” support

LPN / RN
Ability to use and understand sign language
Experience supporting individuals with significant behavioral challenges
Accessible homes for individuals who utilize wheelchairs

How Can I Prepare for An Adult With Disabilities to Live in My Home?

Whether you have years of experience with another agency or are making an exciting career change, Wall Residences is here to support you. You will be well-trained and given the skills you need to work confidently.

If this is your first time supporting adults with disabilities then you will be required to gain initial experience working as a backup worker. This type of work makes it possible to learn more about the agency policies, procedures, and documentation requirements. The most important part of this training will be supporting individuals for the first time.

Wall Residences also offers provider orientation training to help potential providers know what to expect.

Can I transfer my paperwork from another agency or training center?

You can transfer some of the required training paperwork as long as you provide the certificate from the class including the instructor’s signature, date the class was taken, and date when the training expires. We will review with you what training certifications we can accept and what training you may need to take with us.

If documentation of previous TB screenings is provided and there has been no disruption in care then this can also transferable.

Each Wall Residences Provider is an independent contractor who receives payment based on their contract level. These contracts are based on your experience and your pay can increase over time. Each payment made is based on the Supports Intensity Scale of the adult you’re caring for.

Our orientation documents walk you through the application process, the goals of the program, licensing, and more. During applying and onboarding you will be asked for a home visit, resume, references, background checks, and emergency plans.
