About the Providers
Ty and Ellyssa are friends who have both built their lives and careers around caring for others. Ty, a Southwest Virginia native and former Radford University basketball player, began his career in ministry before moving into nonprofit work with the Carson Wentz Audience of One Foundation. There he supported children with serious medical challenges through outdoor experiences and summer camps. After his daughter with Down Syndrome was born, Ty shifted into group home settings where for over three years he combined training, experience, and genuine compassion to create an environment where residents truly thrive. His love for people especially those who have been overlooked and underserved by mainstream society fuels his passion to create a setting for his residents to thrive. Ty has obtained certifications, experience, and knowledge to ensure that he is able to provide an expert level of care for the individuals he cares for in his home. That coupled with the deep love he has for what he does and who he cares for creates an environment where individuals thrive both in the home and community.
Ellyssa, originally from Charlotte, earned her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Wingate University after completing her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology. Her clinical rotations in Southwest Virginia sparked a deep love for the people and communities there. Known for her empathy, communication, and dedication, she brings exceptional skill and wholehearted care to every resident she serves and always going above and beyond to help them live fulfilling, joyful lives. Elly has always been moved by her love for people, and this love brought her to a caretaking role before becoming Provider. Her deep love and care are evident in the way she communicates, cares for, and interacts with individuals. Her background has given her a strong foundation and knowledge base to stand upon, but it is her deep love and devotion to people that fuels her every day by giving residents a life they never thought was possible.
Outside of work, she enjoys family time, snowboarding, farm life, and staying curious and active. Ty loves the outdoors and going hunting, fishing, hiking, and climbing. He cherishes time spent outside with his wife and children. Both are driven, optimistic, and committed to investing in people, creating a home where individuals feel valued, supported, and capable of more than they ever imagined.
