About the Provider

Mary brings over 15 years of experience in the medical field as a Registered Nurse, having worked in a variety of hospital settings in both Ghana and Virginia. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing and has provided care to individuals with a range of disabilities throughout her career. One particularly impactful experience involved caring for a patient with Down Syndrome in the ICU who had never been hospitalized before. Mary’s patient, supportive approach ans understanding of his unique needs helped ease his fears and provided comfort to both him and his family during a difficult time. Outside of her professional work, Mary enjoys cooking, shopping, decorating, trying new restaurants, traveling, attending church, and spending time with her family.

Mary shared that her identity is shaped by a blend of empathy, resilience, and curiosity, noting that key moments such as her experience working as a bedside nurse have strengthened her commitment to service and community. She reflects that navigating various challenges over the course of her career has fostered a deep sense of perseverance and adaptability, which continues to inform how she approaches both her professional and personal life. These experiences have also enhanced her interactions with others, encouraging open communication, mutual respect, and a thoughtful, individualized approach to care. Mary currently resides in the home alone, though her family lives nearby, allowing her to maintain close, supportive bonds and spend quality time together. This proximity helps ensure she remains well connected to her loved ones while also enjoying the independence of her living situation. For a potential resident, the home offers the advantage of a small, intimate setting where more individualized, one-on-one attention and support can be provided.
