This home is located on a quiet street in Rustburg, Virginia. Rustburg is a small community about 15 minutes from Lynchburg. Ray and Debbie offer a wide variety of support services from participating in Challenged Sports programs, ball games, movies, bowling, shopping and going out to eat.

Debbie began working as a back up provider for a family providing services with Wall Residences. Since then, she has worked with several other providers. Through these experiences, Debbie has gained a great deal of knowledge and experience in working with adults with intellectual disabilities. She has worked as a certified pharmacy technician for 25 years and also worked at a physician’s office in the Rustburg community. Through this experience Debbie has knowledge of medications, side effects, etc. She has also worked with Social Services to help people seek services available to them.

Ray and Debbie have 2 grown children and 4 grandchildren and many other family members in the area. They feel family is very important. Any individual in the home would be welcomed into their family. The Dowdy’s have many family cookouts and birthday celebrations and offer family style dinners. The individual will also go on vacations with Ray and Debbie and their family if they wish. Debbie currently has 2 experienced back up providers, working with her, one being her daughter Terrie and the other her sister in law.

Ray and Debbie are currently sharing their home with one individual and have an opening for another at this time. Each individual will have their own bedroom. The Dowdy’s will work with each individual to seek activities and supports that are best suited for them.
